ArmsUp Motorsports Driver Revere Greist Dominates FC at SCCA Oak Tree National

Greist, who finished second twice in last year's double format event, led the entire 14 lap first race from the pole this year, finishing with 17 second lead. In Sunday's second race Greist would once again lead from the pole, running out to a comfortable lead. Continuing to push till the very end of the race, Greist set the new VIR FC lap record on the race's final lap at a 1:53.128. "This was a really good weekend for the team and me," remarked Greist. "We knew we had one of the quickest cars at the track from the word go, which allowed me to just focus on my driving, and making the car quicker. We were able to test a few different items throughout the weekend and the car kept getting better." "Greist did a fantastic job at VIR in the car, he never put a wheel wrong all weekend and continued to push right up until the end to claim the new lap record for the FC car there. Revere and the ArmsUp team have been working very hard over the last season to improve the performance of the Van Diemen chassis and the weekend was just a continuation of that process," added Steve Welk ArmsUp Motorsports marketing manager. Greist has been with ArmsUp Motorsports since the start of the 2008 season," continued Welk. "After spending several years in the Skip Barber Race Series, where the Madison native won three series championships, Greist decided it was time for a new challenge and he entered the SCCA Formula Continental division, under the Guidance of ArmsUp Motorsports owner Gregg Borland. Borland knew Greist through Skip Barber, where Borland was an instructor and test driver – the match up was simple." Since the beginning of the collaboration between ArmsUp and Greist, the pairing won the 2009 SCCA Central Division Championship, finished third in the SCCA National Championship Runoffs, and scored two podiums in the SCCA June Sprints. Curious, we asked where the ArmsUp name came from? "The ArmsUp name came from a bar game that team owner Gregg Borland and long time friend, and now team driving coach, Jim Pace, came up with when the two worked together for Skip Barber in the mid 90's. The actual game is a guarded secret and known only to team members and close friends," explains Welk. "When Borland was still competing as a driver in the Barber Dodge Pro Series, he adopted the ArmsUp Motorsports name for his marketing company, and then carried it on when he opened the prep shop in 1998."
