Austin Hill began the Drive Sober 150 lap race at Dover International Speedway in ninth place. According to Hill “The first 75 laps were not that great. We came in the pits, made a huge swing at it, and went back out there. The car came to life then.”

By lap 93 Hill had driven the number 22 A&D Welding/Don Rich Ford to the front and was battling with Brennan Newberry for the lead. The two cars made contact sending Newberry and his number 24 Chevrolet into a spin and Hill was forced into the pits with a flat tire. A quick tire change by the A&D Welding/Don Rich Ford pit crew helped Hill get back onto the track on the lead lap.

Hill came back from that flat tire in 13th place but wasted no time making his way through the field toward the leaders. On lap 120 Hill had once again taken the lead and began to pull away from the other drivers. “Once I took the lead I never looked back,” said Hill. By the time the checkered flag was waived Hill had stretched his lead to more than five seconds over his nearest competitor.

Louisville, Kentucky racer Ben Rhodes was officially rewarded the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East championship trophy from NASCAR President Mike Helton. Rhodes finished 15th in the Drive Sober 150 at Dover International Speedway, however he had clinched the series title after the last race at Greenville Pickens Speedway. “Glad we had the points lead going into this race. We had some bad mechanical issues. The motor didn’t feel right from the green flag,” said Rhodes. Rhodes also previously secured the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Sunoco Rookie of the year honors.

Rhodes will be honored for his championship winning rookie season at the NASCAR Touring Series Awards in the Grand Ballroom of the Charlotte, North Carolina Convention Center at the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Cameron Hayley finished out the series in second place and Gray Gaulding took third.
