Dalton Millican continued his early season success as he once again topped the podium as the overall winner in the 450A class. This time it was the second stop of the AMA ATV Motocross Championship Series contested in Pell City, Alabama.

In moto two of the 450A the K&N backed rider never trailed as he led from start to finish. "After losing the radiator hose in the Production A moto I was really fired up to go out and show everyone I could get the job done (in the 450A) and we did. The bike was great, the Maximum Cycle motor was fast, and I didn't bust another radiator hose" said Millican.

Millican also competing in the Production A class had the hole-shot and the win in moto number one, but in moto two, after once again holding the lead, a busted radiator hose slowed him to a third place finish and a second overall in the Production A class for the weekend.

"This was a big night for me racing for the first time with Parts Plus as the new sponsor of our MPE Motorsports Team," remarked Millican. "Parts Plus and my Dad had a press conference yesterday making the announcement. So to be able to go out and win the Pro Main event in front of this big home town crowd was awesome. I would say that the new bike our Part Plus team built has really helped. Also the reliable power I get from the K&N products helped get me out front."
Although his sights are clearly on the season ending championship, Millican says he remains patient, taking it one race at a time.

Millican says this is by far the best start to a season he has ever had, with two wins in the 450A class and two second place finishes in the Production A class. He also won the Pro Main at the Arena Cross Tour stop in Memphis, Tennessee.

"I have been behind the starting gate a total of ten times and I have had the hole-shot nine times. So I feel good about by concentration at the starting gate and how flawlessly the bike has performed. It is a lot of work that goes into winning any event and so far this season everything is just flowing for our team."

Asked if he did anything special or different during the off season to prepare for 2011 Millican said, "Yes I did. Momma and Daddy let me go to Florida during the winter. I was able to ride everyday at different tracks. I would say that has allowed me to start the season in the best riding shape ever. It is one thing to be in shape from going to the gym, but a whole different thing to get yourself into riding shape. All that time in Florida has really helped."

Millican says that he clearly has his eye on the championship at the end of the season, but right now the team is taking it one gate drop at a time. "No matter if its racing, or anything else it is good to set a goal, but the only way to achieve it is one step at a time. So we have our ultimate goal, but it still comes down to one race at a time," he adds.

"There have been a lot of great things going on with our race team," continues Millican. "The biggest news for our team has been Parts Plus signing a major sponsorship deal with our team. The NHRA Top Fuel car my dad drives will be competing in 12 events this year and the ATV team is proud to go out and promote Parts Plus, K&N and our other sponsors at all the AMA ATV MX events."

Millican was born into a racing family, his father is six-time Top Fuel World Champion and Television Host Clay Millican. "Please come out and see us at all the AMA ATV MX events," says Millican. "Also look for dad at the NHRA events."

Note: Immediately after this interview Millican raced at the famous Balance Moto X track in Oakland, Kentucky. And in the 450A class, with a tremendous last lap pass, he once again took the win in moto one. However, moto two had a bit of controversy and surprised riders. With riders and bikes at the starting gate an official told the riders they were extending the race by one lap.

"I could not have been more surprised to learn we were going to run an extra lap," said Millican after the race. "Fuel is the easiest way to make your bike lighter and we simply did not have enough in it for the extra lap. This cost us, and our whole team was disappointed, we were not told of changes to the race format until it was time to race."

Millican ended the weekend with two more second place finishes overall in both the 450A and Production A classes.
