Daniel Cammish's 17 Class Wins Gets Attention of the British Racing Drivers' Club

Last year Cammish was hailed as one of the United Kingdom's most talented rising stars of British motorsports. In his rookie year driving in the Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship, Cammish flat-out dominated; scoring a staggering 17 Scholarship Class wins out of 23 race starts. It was one of the best rookie seasons in the Championships history and a new record for scholarship wins. "The Scholarship class is for Drivers that are new to Formula Ford and are still classed as 'rookies' in general. They must also be driving a year old car to comply with the rules. The class is designed to give less experienced drivers something to race for," explains Cammish.
"However, I pretty much re-wrote the rule book on the class when the season began in April. I qualified second overall, only a tenth shy of pole position. I was a long way ahead of a Scholarship rival and it continued from there." Cammish says he didn't concentrate too much on the class, he focused more on where he was finishing overall against the top drivers. Using the races as a measuring stick with which to gage his prodigious skill-set increases. Beginning with round one Cammish had 13 consecutive top-six finishes overall. This would be a very impressive run for say a second year driver, let alone for a driver in his inaugural year. As a result of his stellar on track performances, Cammish has become a "British Racing Drivers' Club (BRDC) Rising Star for 2010" - this is a huge honor. "Its great to be told your doing a good job from a third party," says Cammish. "The BRDC are such a prestigious club and to have them choose me for the scheme separates me from the competition and gives me and immediate confidence boost and psychological advantage. I look forward to working more closely with the club once the season starts, and fingers crossed, I will meet some of the BRDC's most prestigious members along the way." The ultimate goal for Cammish is to someday race at the very highest level of motorsports. "The dream is of course Formula 1. But this is just a dream. There is a lot of competitive racing to be done, where talented drivers can make a living, and that is my realistic goal. Whether its Japan, America, or Australia, I believe I can make it as a professional racecar driver." Cammish's relationship with K&N came about as a result of his yearly search for sponsorship. "My father enquired about the possible sponsorship of me for the 2010 season, and things went from there. I'm sure I can be a good Ambassador for K&N and will do my best to promote the brand whenever possible." Cammish goes on to say that he would like to take the opportunity to thank K&N for all their support." The plan for this season says Cammish is to become Dunlop MSA Formula Ford British Champion. "If I achieve this, I would hope for a shot at the prestigious BRDC Autosport Young Driver of the Year Award," adds Cammish. " "This would put me up against some of the finest junior drivers in the country, in a direct shootout to be the best. The prize includes £50,000 and a test of a McLaren F1 car. It would be a dream to win this award, and something I am very capable of."
